Meet the Mentors
The IRP has a variety of different Business Mentors that visit both Corporate Members and IRP Members, imparting advice and helping recruitment consultancies to maximise their own effectiveness.
Below are a list of some of the REC's Mentors, and where their specialism lies.
If you are interested in booking a session, or multiple sessions, with a specific REC Mentor, simply contact the Business Support Unit today on 020 7009 2131 / 2132 or email bsu@rec.uk.com.
What does a Business Mentor do?
Business Mentors help you to formulate a business plan without them often realising it! Many start ups and SMEs are scared of thinking about putting a business plan together as they just don't know where to start or what to put in it. When an REC mentor run through the agreed actions at the end of a session, informing them that we have just put together a business plan, they are often quite surprised but also very pleased to have something to work towards and focus on.
Why should you use a Business Mentor?
Many agencies use an REC Mentor for different reasons. The sessions are ideally suited for those that just want a one-off mentor session, but also for businesses that wish to sign up for a year's programme (which includes four mentor sessions).
One off mentoring sessions
The one-off sessions tend to be to deal with a specific issue in the business. Perhaps you are looking to diversify and want some tips and hints about how to go about it, or perhaps you want a session to ensure that you are compliant with regards to operating procedure changes? Are you looking to discuss exit strategies? Or do you want an unbiased neutral view of your business from someone who understands the sector?
One-year programme
The one year programme is usually for new business start-ups. Included in the package includes membership, a three-day start up course and a toolkit.
The first session focuses on the basics such as client and candidate attraction, systems and procedures, activity levels, etc. The next session looks at staffing, targets, SLAs/PSLs, premises, websites, networking, etc. The third session focuses on management skills, staff appraisals and development. The fourth session will focus on what you think your main requirements will be in the coming 12 months, with a strategy being devised as a result of that consultation.
