What we do

The Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) is a representative body for individuals working within the Staffing and Recruitment Industry. Established in 2009 in its present form, the IRP has a history stretching over 80 years and is recognised for supporting members in maintaining and developing their careers.

Upholding standards and training

Providing a clear differentiator for the professional recruiter, membership of the IRP demonstrates a commitment to upholding world-class recruitment standards.

All IRP members abide by a Code of Ethics, and commit to upholding best practice. IRP membership distinguishes you from other recruiters, showing your personal commitment to professional development in order to provide outstanding service to both clients and candidates.

We endeavour to help you progress through your career and have developed a career routeway that maps the key knowledge and competencies required at various career milestones. We can help you develop your skills and demonstrate your experience through training or our recruitment specific qualifications which are delivered by the IRP and awarded by the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).

Positioning Recruitment as a career of choice

At the IRP we are passionate about making recruitment a “Career of Choice” and are engaging with an ever increasing number of stakeholders.

We’re ensuring new members of the profession receive the best possible support through our Recruitment Apprenticeships, awarded by the REC and available at three differing levels, Intermediate (Level 2), Advanced (Level 3) and Higher (Level 4). Each and every apprentice who enrols on an REC awarded apprenticeship will receive complimentary membership of the IRP throughout their entire apprenticeship.

Voice of the industry

The IRP has many features and benefits that you can review throughout the rest of this website, but don’t forget that as part of the REC you also benefit from the REC’s lobbying of government and major stakeholders, and you can attend selected meetings.
