As a recruitment professional your reputation is everything. Becoming a member of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals helps you demonstrate commitment, professionalism and added value to your clients and candidates.

The IRP helps recruiters to demonstrate their commitment to best practice and world-class recruitment standards, as well as providing the best possible services to clients and candidates. All IRP members must abide by the IRP Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.


Change is coming...


We’re in the process of replacing the IRP with “REC Professionals”.


Following extensive consultation with our members, we’ve made this change so that individuals working within recruitment can become recognised as part of the REC, the largest recruitment professional body in the UK.


IRP members are proud to be part of a professional body – but they consistently told us that they would prefer to be closer to the REC because that’s the brand that their clients and candidates know and understand.


We want to enable more recruiters, whether agency-side or inhouse, to join the REC. This is important, because it will strengthen our collective voice, giving us more weight when campaigning on behalf of the recruitment industry.

Choose the membership level that fits your career goals

Affiliate (AIRP): Tailored to those in the industry that have no recognised recruitment qualification and have less than 10 years’ experience. (Membership cost: £95 per year (UK only))

Member (MIRP): Open to any recruiter with either 10 years’ industry experience, or a Level 3 or Level 4 IRP qualification. (Membership cost: £125 per year (UK only))

Fellowship (FIRP): Open to any recruiter with any of the below: (Membership cost: £135 per year (UK only))

- 15 years’ industry experience, or

- 10 years’ experience with Level 3 Certificate in Recruitment Practice, or

- 7 years’ experience with Level 4 Diploma in Recruitment Management

Overseas Membership: Overseas membership is open to any recruiter who operates outside of the UK or Channel Islands. The levels of membership and criteria are the same as the AIRP, MIRP and FIRP. Due to the additional costs incurred by overseas applicants the IRP charges a different membership fee of £150 per membership, regardless of the level.
